During the month of April, I'm having a show with Jo-Ann Osnoe at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville, NJ. I'll be showing my recent paintings, which as usual, feature the landscape near my home in New Jersey. I'll be showing a number of winter scenes, even though we barely had a winter here this year.

This is an art and photography exhibit highlighting partnership lands protected by D&R Greenway in Princeton: Greenway Meadows, Coventry Farm and The Institute Woods. With a special exhibit of plein air paintings created on Green Acres lands, in celebration of the New Jersey Green Acres Program's 50th anniversary.

During the month of November, I'm having a 2-person show with Beatrice Bork at Artists' Gallery in Lambertville. I'll be showing my newest work, where I continue to explore the local landscape with an emphasis on skies and cloudscapes. Beatrice is a very accomplished, award winning animal artist who paints birds and other animals in watercolor. I think our artwork works well together, as she paints the creatures that inhabit my landscapes but never seem to make it into my paintings.

From July 5 through August 31st, 2011 I'll be showing my local landscape paintings at Bell's Tavern in Lambertville, NJ - a mix of older and newer work, large and small, about 14 pieces in total.

Bell's remains my favorite place to eat in town and they have a long tradition of exhibiting artwork by local artists. Their food is great, prices very reasonable and a good selection of beers on tap. I hope you get a chance to stop by:

In The Moment
ten painters, one farm

Over the past several months, 10 plein air painters were invited to paint at Glen Oaks Farm in Bucks County. I was one of those 10 and "In the Moment" is the exhibit of the work we created. The show runs May 1-28, 2011 at:

Glen Oaks Farm is a beautiful place with a classic old Bucks County stone house, a pond, acres of trees and shrubs, an old lime kiln built into the hillside... but I was fascinated by the big old rambling barn and that's what I painted each time I visited the farm. These are the 4 paintings I have in the show - 4 different views of the same barn complex:

To make things even more interesting, artist Peter Hunt will be doing a live painting demonstration during the reception.

Verde Artists' Collective

My solo show at the Gallery at Verde in Kingston is over now, but I will continue to have paintings there. Not in the Gallery at Verde, but at another shop in the same building. The Gallery at Verde is one of four businesses which make up the Verde Artists' Collective, all housed in the Woodwinds Building. Two of the businesses there are changing ownership, and when the dust settles, I will be part of a newly formed gallery tentatively to be called the D&R Artistsâ€™ Group. I'll provide more details later, but if you are near Kingston, please do stop in and check out the Verde Artists' Collective, a few of my Kingston area paintings are on display there now.

During the month of March, I'm having a solo show of my work at The Gallery at Verde in Kingston, NJ. I'll be showing mostly new work, including a few paintings done just a short walk from the gallery door.

The gallery is in a very senic location where I've painted quite a few times. Just outside the gallery is the D&R Canal at Lock Number 8, with a charming old locktender's house and the only surviving canal telegraph office on the canal. Just above the lock is a canal basin where barges could pull over to load and unload cargo.

The area is very rich in history: a short walk from the canal is the Millstone River with a 4 arch stone bridge crossing it. This bridge was built in 1798 to replace a wooden bridge that was destroyed by General George Washington's troops to prevent pursuit by Lord Cornwallis following the Battle of Princeton on January 3, 1777.

Across the stone arch bridge is the Kingston Flour Mill, built in the 1870's on the site of Jacob Skillman's grist mill from 1748. There's a small mill dam right here and just beyond it is the larger dam that creates Lake Carnagie.

From here you can walk for miles in either direction on the towpath or on other connecting trails. Check out the trail maps of the Kingston Greenways Association and plan a day of exploring the area. There's even a pair of bald eagles nesting in the nearby.

Since I've been painting at this location for a while, I was glad to learn that an art gallery had opened up here and I'm very grateful for this opportunity to show my work.

Please note that the gallery is located right next to the D&R Canal in a building called The Artists' Collective at Verde, which it shares with 3 other shops. If you get directions to this address from a GPS or a mapping website, you'll end up several blocks away. Trust me on this, and don't trust your GPS! Just park near the canal and you'll be fine.
